Back Alley Bridge

A four-handed game of Back Alley Bridge with people wherever they are.

How to play

This table needs all four seats before the first card is dealt, so the host has three links to send, one each. Nobody bids until everybody has arrived. The host picks the length when they make the table: a short game of 14 deals, or the full 26.

Seats keep the same name on every screen: the host, then guest 1, guest 2 and guest 3. The host and guest 2 sit across from each other and are one side. Guests 1 and 3 are the other. The table tells you which seat is yours, and the other three hands show as face-down cards and a number, because you can see how many cards they hold but not which ones.

When it is your turn to bid, pick pass, a number, or board. Every bid appears the moment it is made, so you can see what each side has asked for before you play a card. A bid that asks for more than there are is marked, and still allowed.

On your turn to play, the cards you can play are the ringed ones and the rest are dimmed. A card the rules will not take says why when you press it, instead of moving. The last trick stays on the table so you can see who took it.

When the last trick is in, the deal is added up on the table: what each side bid, took and scored, and where the match stands. Everybody presses next deal and the next one is dealt, one seat further round. Chat is always on at the table, and voice only if the host switched it on when they made it.
