Newmarket

Newmarket for three to eight, with people wherever they are.

How to play

Pick how many seats you want, three to eight, and the table gives you a link for each of the others. Every seat has to arrive before the first card is dealt, because the whole pack goes out at once.

Your own hand is the only one with faces on it. The other seats show as a row of backs and a number, so you can see how many cards somebody holds but never which ones, and the spare hand shows as a count alone. That spare hand is why a run stops where it does.

On your turn the cards you may play are the bright ones: the lowest card you hold in a suit when you lead, or the one card the run is waiting for. A card the rules will not take says so instead of moving. The table says what the last play did, what it collected and whether it stopped the run.

When somebody plays their last card the hand is over and everyone else pays them a counter a card. Press ready and the next deal goes out with the unclaimed pots still on the table and the deal one seat further round. A seat reaching a hundred and fifty counters takes the match, and the tenth hand ends it whatever the score.

Chat is always on at the table, and voice only if the host switched it on when they made it. A table waits forty eight hours, so a room you left is still there when you come back through the list on the Newmarket page.
