How this version plays
- All 52 cards are dealt round the table, as evenly as it divides. You pick the size above, two to four, and the computers take the other seats. The seat left of the dealer leads any card.
- The next higher card in the same suit follows, wherever it is held. Ace is low. This is not a clockwise turn game.
- A run stops at its fifth card, at a king, or when its next card has already been played. The player of the last card leads again.
- The first empty hand wins immediately. Each remaining card gives its owner minus one point and the winner plus one.
This table plays the five-card sequence variant, with the calls Snip, Snap, Snorum, High cockalorum and Jingo. It does not use the equal-rank matching rules.
A useful lead can let you play several of your own cards before someone else takes over.
How to play
All fifty two cards go out round the table, as evenly as the pack divides. Players above the table says how many sit down, two, three or four, and the computers take every seat but yours; the table remembers what you picked. The seat left of the dealer leads any card. Whoever holds the next card up in that suit plays it, wherever they sit, with the calls Snip, Snap, Snorum, High cockalorum and Jingo as the run grows. Ace is low and the king does not wrap.
A run stops at its fifth card, at a king, or when its next card has already been played, and the player of the last card leads again. The first empty hand wins at once, and every card left in the other hands is a point to the winner. You can pause the computers and step through a hand, and a new deal moves the dealer round the table.
When you would rather have people in the other seats, the table at play with friends seats two, three or four of you on one link each.
